Caritas Hellas invites you on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 18:00, at METApolis Gallery (Stoa Kairi 6, 3rd floor) at the inauguration of the photo exhibition titled "My City, Athens ...", where will be presented the works of 28 refugees and asylum seekers aged between 16 and 41 from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Ukraine, Pakistan and Ghana.
Caritas Hellas has held three-month educational photography seminar at its Caritas Social Spot in Neos Kosmos. The seminar was conducted by the photographer teacher Yiannis Yiannakopoulos.
The seminar is part of the "METAVASIS" Project - Participation, Empowerment and Social Inclusion of Refugees / Migrants in Greece "concerning the support and integration of refugees and immigrants in Greek society. The Program is funded by the German Foreign Ministry and Caritas Germany.
The training seminar is based on a photography approach tailored to the needs of vulnerable social groups (refugees and asylum seekers). The philosophy of the program consists of the combination of technical knowledge of photography with its aesthetic and practical application. The ultimate purpose of this learning was to help eliminate social exclusion by cultivating social skills, in an open environment of creative effort and integration through intercultural education.
The theme that the group was asked to photograph was the city of Athens, the city where the group lives and experiences a new reality. They were also asked to express, through their pictures, the way they see the architecture of this city.
The members of the group will share with you their own thoughts, pictures, moments, photographic clicks, through their journey of knowledge and life in the city, through this tour of images, through the soul of human beings who have traveled from very far and now they are with us.
